A Câmara de Meio Ambiente e Patrimônio
Cultural do Ministério Público Federal (4ªCCR/MPF) lança nesta
terça-feira (21) o projeto Amazônia Protege, que tem por objetivo
combater o desmatamento ilegal na floresta amazônica. O projeto propõe
uma nova metodologia de trabalho e utiliza imagens de satélite para
instaurar ações civis públicas contra os responsáveis pelos maiores
polígonos de desmatamento ilegal registrados na Amazônia entre 2015 e
2016.Participam da ação coordenada 24 unidades do MPF situadas em oito
estados da Amazônia legal (Acre, Amazonas, Maranhão, Mato Grosso, Pará,
Rondônia, Roraima e Tocantins). São parceiros da iniciativa o Instituto
Chico Mendes de Conservação da Biodiversidade (ICMBio), o Instituto
Brasileiro do Meio Ambiente e Recursos naturais Renováveis (Ibama), e a
Universidade Federal de Lavras (UFLA).
O lançamento terá a presença da procuradora-geral da República, Raquel Dodge; do vice-procurador-geral da República, Luciano Mariz Maia; e do coordenador da 4ªCCR, o subprocurador-geral da República Nívio de Freitas. Também confirmaram presença a presidente do Instituto Brasileiro do Meio Ambiente e Recursos naturais Renováveis (Ibama), Suely Mara Vaz Guimarães de Araújo, representando o ministro de Estado do Meio Ambiente; Marcelo Augusto de Vasconcellos, consultor-geral da União da Advocacia-Geral da União; o desembargador Antônio Souza Prudente, da 5ª Turma do Tribunal Regional Federal da 1ª Região; professor José Roberto Soares Scolforo, Reitor da UFLA; e Muni Lourenço Silva Junior, vice-presidente da Confederação da Agricultura e Pecuária (CNA), presidente da Federação da Agricultura e Pecuária do Estado do Amazonas (FAEA) e presidente da Comissão Nacional de Meio Ambiente da CNA;
A programação prevê a divulgação dos resultados da primeira fase do projeto, com o número de ações instauradas, e a apresentação da iniciativa, incluindo detalhes sobre a metodologia de trabalho. O evento acontece às 10h, no Memorial do MPF (Procuradoria-Geral da República, cobertura do bloco B). The Environment and Cultural Patrimony Chamber of the Federal Public Prosecutor's Office (4th CCR / MPF) launches the Amazon Protected Project on Tuesday (21), whose objective is to combat illegal deforestation in the Amazon rainforest. The project proposes a new working methodology and uses satellite images to institute public civil actions against those responsible for the largest illegal deforestation polygons recorded in the Amazon between 2015 and 2016. The coordinated action includes 24 MPF units located in eight states of the legal Amazon (Acre, Amazonas, Maranhão, Mato Grosso, Pará, Rondônia, Roraima and Tocantins). The Chico Mendes Institute for Biodiversity Conservation (ICMBio), the Brazilian Institute for the Environment and Renewable Natural Resources (IBAMA), and the Federal University of Lavras (UFLA) are partners of the initiative.The launch will be attended by Attorney General Raquel Dodge; Luciano Mariz Maia, Deputy Attorney General of the Republic; and the coordinator of the 4th CCR, the Deputy Attorney General of the Republic of Freitas.
